After sailing to city under cover of darkness, terrorists targeted major landmarks of Mumbai with first attack taking place at crowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station. Ajmal Amir Kasab and Ismail Khan carried out attack at this station, killing as many as 58 people and injuring over 100. Kasab and Khan later entered to attack Cama Hospital, but same was thwarted with alertness of hospital staff. y, however, killed 6 police officials, including city's Anti-Terrorism Squ Hemant Karkare in an ambush after leaving hospital.

second site of attack was Nariman House business and residential complex where a Rabbi, his wife, and six ors, including five Israeli citizens, were killed by terrorists who first held m as a host. two-year-old child of Rabbi couple, Moshe, survived in attack. n 'Baby Moshe' became a face of incent victims of ruthless terrorism. In July 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Moshe during his visit to Israel. Later, in January 2018 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on also met survivor of 26/11, Moshe Holtzberg at Nariman House in Mumbai.

third site to come under attack on 26/11 was  Leopold Cafe followed by Taj Mahal Hotel and Tower. Four terrorists carried out attack at famous cafe before entering iconic Taj hotel, where y killed as many as 31 people after laying a three-day siege at hotel.

or site to come under attack during 26/11 was Oberoi-Trident hotel where ar group of two terrorists entered at almost same time, as or four h entered Taj. At Oberoi-Trident hotel  siege officially ended on evening of vember 28 with as many as 30 being killed in horrific attack.

By time commandos of  National Security Guards (NSG) gunned down last terrorists who h been holed up in south Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel, over 160 people were killed and hundreds were left injured.

After attack, it was established that 10 terrorists h sailed to Mumbai from Pakistan's port city, Karachi. ir voy to Mumbai involved hijacking a fishing dingy and killing four of five men crew, leaving one occupant to ferry m to Mumbai coast.

In se gruesome attacks, 9 terrorists were killed and lone survivor, Ajmal Amir Kasab, was caught and was sentenced to death at Yerwa Central Jail in Pune in 2012.

 Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) was believed to have plotted 26/11 attacks. Its mastermind, Hafiz Saeed, has however been roaming freely in Pakistan.

New Delhi has, time and again, protested against Islamab for harboring Saeed, who is wanted for allegedly plotting 2008 attack. India's stand on Hafiz has been supported by many International personalities including a former Central Intelligence ncy ( CIA) director and former Afghanistan President.

Former CIA Director David Howell Petraeus in January this year said that re are substantial evidence against Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief and UN-designated global terrorist Hafiz Saeed for his role in 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

A day after in same month, former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai also remarked that re is plenty of evidence against Saeed for his role in 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and everyone kws about it.

In May 2018 Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also asserted that terrorists sent by Pakistan were responsible for dely 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed over 160 lives.

"Militant organisations are active. Call m n-state actors, should we allow m to cross border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can't we complete trial?" Nawaz ted in an interview to Pakistan's Dawn newspaper in a reference to Mumbai attacks-related trials which have stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court.

Days after Nawaj's t so subtle confessions about Pakistan's involvement in Mumbai attacks,  United States State Department said that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed and 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind is a tremendous concern to Washington.

"We are concerned about mastermind behind 2008 Mumbai attacks. And he's a Lashkar-e-Taiba guy who was being held in Pakistan, and he was eventually let out on house arrest, and we have a reward out for," said spokesperson Hear Nauert while responding to Sharif's remark.

Ties between India and Pakistan have remained tense since 2008 Mumbai terror attack and sedived after Uri terror attack by Pakistan-based terrorists in September 2016, that claimed lives of 19 Indian soldiers.
