Dwaraka: In a magnificent display of coordination and piety, an estimated 37,000 women from the Ahir community in Gujarat gathered on Sunday to perform the Maha Raas. In the aerial visuals provided by ANI that can be seen below, an astonishing number of women from the Ahir community can be seen performing the Maha Raas around a central platform in a huge field, with the red of their clothing striking a stunning contrast with the dull brown of the ground they are performing on.

The event has been organised by the Akhil Bhartiya Ahirani Maharas Sanghathan, with the organisers claiming that as many as 1.5 lakh members of the Ahir community are in attendance. The event has been organised in honour of Lord Krishna's daughter-in-law and Banasur's daughter Usha and ran for two days, from December 23-24. According to the news portal Desh Gujarat, all 37,000 performers were subsequently gifted with a copy of the holy text Gita.
