Aaditya Thackeray to contest Maharashtra polls; 'Howdy Adi,' says Raut

Sanjay Raut backed Aaditya Thackeray's candidature in the upcoming polls and said that the entire Maharashtra has been waiting for this historic announcement

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Monday backed Aitya Thackeray's candidature in upcoming assembly polls and said that entire state of Maharashtra has been waiting for this historic anuncement. He said that state is thankful to Thackeray to have taken responsibility to le it. Referring to grand 'Howdy, Modi' event held at Houston, New York earlier this month, Raut also said that Maharashtra is all set to say, 'Howdy, i!'

Shiv Sena MP also said that it was because of some technical glitch that ISRO's Chandrayaan 2 failed to land on moon but we (Shiv Sena) will ensure that this 'sun' (Aitya Thackeray) lands on 6th floor of Mantralaya on 21st October. This was in reference to Chief Minister's office which is located on 6th floor of Mantralaya. Shiv Sena party has been projecting Thackeray as chief ministerial candidate if NDA returns to power after assembly polls scheduled next month. Furr, Raut ded that if Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray would have been alive today, he would have been extremely happy to hear that Aitya Thackeray was contesting elections.

Aitya to be first of Thackeray family to contest polls

Shiv Sena confirmed on Sunday that Aitya Thackeray will be contesting 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Polls from Worli constituency.  He will become first member of Thackeray family to contest elections, and if he wins, first member to represent people. Ever since Shiv Sena was formed in 1966 by Bal Thackeray, member of family h contested any election or held any constitutional post.

Aitya Thackeray is currently President of party's youth wing, Yuva Sena and has been playing an active role in politics over last few years. Aitya has been on a Jan Ashirw Yatra since July and completed fourth phase of yatra on September 18. In four phases, he has covered 111 assembly constituencies in 25 districts. He is going to begin fifth phase on Tuesday, October 2 from Nagpur.
