Activists feed starving monkeys on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway

Amid the coronavirus lockdown, a group of activists has taken the initiative of providing food to monkeys starving along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Maharashtra.

Amid coronavirus lockdown, a group of activists has taken initiative of providing food to monkeys starving along Mumbai-Ahmedab highway in Maharashtra. On rmal days, primates in Mar-Palghar hilly and forested belt here used to survive on food left by travellers passing by busy highway.

But since lockdown, re are hardly any travellers on route, leaving monkeys deprived of food and water. After coming to kw about plight of apes, activists of a local organisation went to highway on Monday carrying dozens of bananas and tomatoes and fed animals.

On seeing fruits, a large number of monkeys gared at spot in time and relished feast, a member of NGO said. He said organisation would try to ensure that stray animals in rural areas are t deprived of food during se unprecedented times.
