The company in the legal notice had stated that they were brought to the notice of several cases since March 2018 of fake websites and emails in the name of Amul, that asked viewers to deposit money into their bank accounts. The dupers were "making unlawful gains by duping people", the legal notice to Google had stated.

Amul had accused Google of allowing the practice to flourish through its paid promotion service for the miscreants without background checks and thus earning revenue from the -based advertising.

The dairy brand had asked the tech giant to "to immediately cease and desist from displaying the search result of such fake/fraudulent websites" in the legal notice. “Google should not allow its platform to be used from committing illegalities and offences,” the legal notice read.

"Failure to comply with the aforementioned condition within seven days from the receipt of this notice shall constraint our client to escalate this issue using all available means," the legal notice had stated.
