After onions, tomato price surges to Rs 80 per kg in Delhi
After Delhi citizens faced troubles over rise in onion price, the retail price of tomatoes has also increased up to Rs 80 per kilogram in the national capital

With citizens of national capital facing difficulty with soaring prices of onions, retail price of tomatoes has also increased to Rs 80 per kilogram in Delhi on Wednesday. tomato prices have sky-rocketed due to supply disruption in aftermath of incessant rains in key growing states, including Karnataka. While onion prices have come considerably down in past week, tomato prices have come to d to woes of citizens in national capital. Price of onions has come down to around Rs 60 per kg as compared to 70-80 per kg.
With impact on supplies, tomatoes have turned costlier in past few days, as per trers in Delhi. Depending on quality of tomatoes, local vendors are selling commodity at prices between Rs 60 and 80 per kg on Wednesday, as reported by news ncy PTI.

"Tomato prices have increased sharply in last few days as supply has been affected because of floods and heavy rains in key growing states," a wholesale trer at Azpur Mandi told PTI.
Lower supply due to crop dam
states of Telangana and Karnataka witnessed heavy rainfall during monsoon season which affected crop production in areas, leing to a supply short. As per data released by central government data, aver retail price of tomato in Delhi increased to Rs 54 per kg on Wednesday from Rs 45 per kg on October 1. government data ded that retail prices of tomatoes were higher in or metro cities also ranging from Rs 60 per kg in Kolkata, Rs 54 per kg in Mumbai to Rs 40 per kg in Chennai on Wednesday. Recently, Mhya Presh government issued orders asking trers to keep a limited stock of onions with mselves in order to give a relief to people due to soaring prices.

Relief in onion prices by Delhi govt
Earlier in September, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal h anunced that AAP government will be selling onions at a price lower than retail price at Rs. 24 per kg through mobile vans. anuncement h come as a relief for citizens of Delhi who were forced to buy onion at a sky-rocketed price at Rs. 70-80 per kg.
