Ahead of Army day, CDS General Bipin Rawat visits Ladakh to review security along LAC
Ahead of Army Day, Chief of Defence of Staff Gen Bipin Rawat on his second day of visit to Ladakh reviewed security LAC & overall military preparedness

On second day of his visit to Lakh, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat visited forward locations along LAC. General Rawat is in Lakh to review overall military preparedness as thousands of Indian and Chinese troops remained deployed in a high state of combat reiness in various mountaius locations in region amid eight-month-long border standoff.

Official sources said on Tuesday that Gen Rawat has been briefed by Lt Gen PGK Men, commander of Leh-based 14 Corps, popularly kwn as Fire and Fury Corps, and or senior military officials on dynamic security matrix in eastern Lakh. Later in evening, General Rawat might leave for Kashmir, where he will take stalk of situation of security in Jammu and Kashmir. In his two day visit to Lakh just before Army Day is being seen as a morale booster for troops deployed on eastern border.

visit of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to Lakh comes days after he toured several key installations including "forward most air maintained" posts in Dibang Valley, Lohit sector and Subansiri valley near Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Presh. " CDS will review overall security scenario in eastern Lakh region," said a source.
Army and Indian Air Force(IAF) has been maintaining a high state of operational reiness along nearly 3,500-km LAC with China in view of military standoff in eastern Lakh. Nearly 50,000 troops of Indian Army are deployed in various locations in eastern Lakh as multiple rounds of military and diplomatic talks between two sides have t yielded any concrete outcome to resolve faceoff. China has also deployed an equal number of troops, according to officials.

eighth and last round of military talks h taken place on vember 6 during which India and China broly discussed disengment of troops from specific friction points. CDS has been part of top military brass framing strategies to enhance India's military prowess in view of Si-India standoff.

Last month, Chief of Army Staff Gen MM Naravane h visited eastern Lakh to review ground situation in region that is also experiencing harsh winter. standoff erupted on May 5 last year following violent clashes between troops of Indian Army and Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Pangong lake area. incident in Pangong Tso was followed by a similar incident in rth Sikkim on May 9.
