AIDSO holds protests in Delhi to support JNU students

All India Democratic students organisation came out on roads in support of JNU students against the alleged attack of police on them. A sea of students turned up outside All India Council for Technical Education in the national capital yesterday to protest against the steep fee hike leaving the administration stunned by the volume of the demonstration. Thousands of students also ended up clashing with the cops who were deployed at the site to maintain the law and order of the situation. Around 600 security personnel were deployed but students were not Lathi charged the officials said.

However, today, the all India democratic students organisation observed protest across the nation against the police attack on JNU students at Jantar Mantar Delhi. Students from different institutions shouted slogans against police and undemocratic working of JNU administration. The protest meeting was addressed by Prashant Kumar President of the organisation, Rahul Sarkar, the Vice president of the AIDSO and other student leaders from JNU, Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia University and Ambedkar University.
Demands punishment for guilty police personnel
The speakers demanded exemplary punishment for the police personnel. They also demanded authorities to remove the hostel fee hike and to stop police intervention in democratic students movement and activities which take place in the campus of educational institutions. They also appealed students to come forward and be united in movements against such fee hike.
Rahul Sarkar, the VC said that, "Yesterday while thousands of students were battling to revoke the sudden fee hike that has unfolded at JNU, the cops brutally attacked the students. Despite the presence of the vice-chancellor of JNU University, the Vice President, Venkaiah Naidu and also the HRD ministry, Ramesh Pokhriyal, students could not hold the peaceful protest."
"The further course of action, however is to have a discussion with the administration. The Vice-chancellor hasn't approached the students, there hasn't been any establishment of a dialogue. This is extremely imperative for the problem to get rectified. So the demonstration will be on until communication is established", he further added.
When Republic media network approached the New Delhi DCP for his reaction on the organisations' dharna at Jantar Mantar, he refused to comment on the whole development.
