Air India Express Flight Escorted By 2 Singapore Fighter Jets After Bomb Threat

New Delhi: A Singapore-bound Air India Express flight AXB684 was escorted by two Singapore jets RSAF F-15SGs after it received a bomb threat on Tuesday. Air India Express plane landed safely at Changi Airport at around 10 pm tonight.

"Air India Express received an email that re was a bomb on board flight AXB684 that was bound for Singapore. Two of our RSAF F-15SGs scrambled and escorted plane away from populated areas, to finally land safely at Singapore Changi Airport at around 10.04 pm tonight," Singapore Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen informed in a tweet.

“Our Ground Based Air Defence (GB) systems and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were also activated. Once on ground, plane was handed to Airport Police. Investigations are ongoing,” Singapore Defence Minister informed.

“Many thanks to dedication and professionalism of our SAF and Home Team that keep us safe in our homes, even when threats exist around us…,” he furr said.

Air India's Delhi-Chicago flight diverted to Cana following bomb threat

Earlier today, an Air India plane carrying 211 people from Delhi to Chicago was diverted to an airport in Cana following a bomb threat, according to officials.

Royal Canian Mounted Police (RCMP) said flight me an emergency landing at Iqaluit, Nunavut, and all 211 passengers and crew disembarked aircraft.

In a statement, Air India said flight AI127 operating from Delhi to Chicago on October 15, 2024, was subject of a security threat posted online and, as a precautionary measure, has landed at Iqaluit Airport in Cana.

" aircraft and passengers are being re-screened as per laid down security protocol. Air India has activated agencies at airport to assist passengers until such time that ir journey can resume," airline said.

"All 211 passengers and crew disembarked aircraft and were relocated to Iqaluit International airport," RCMP said in a statement.

On Monday, an Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was diverted to Delhi following a bomb threat. Following standard security protocols, a thorough inspection was conducted and no suspicious item was found inside aircraft.

Air India, in statement, also said that carrier as well as or local airlines have been subject to a number of threats in recent days.

"Though all have subsequently been found to be hoaxes, as a responsible airline operator all threats are taken seriously. inconvenience to customers is sincerely regretted," it said.

Furr, airline said it is extending all cooperation to authorities in identifying perpetrators of such threats to ensure that y are held accountable for disruption and inconvenience caused to passengers.

Air India also said it will consider legal action against those responsible to recover damages incurred by airline.

On Tuesday, apart from Air India's Delhi-Chicago flight, six or Indian flights received bomb threat messages through a social media handle.
