Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), that guards vital installations including airport and Delhi Metro, said on Sunday that it has issued masks to thousands of its personnel in view of 'severe' category air quality in national capital region.

CISF provides N95-grade masks to personnel
N95-grade masks have been provided to troops of force deployed for securing vital government installations like rth and South blocks, various ministries, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Red Fort and or locations. Pollution levels in Delhi and satellite towns shot up on Sunday morning, with air quality bordering 'severe plus' category at several places. At 11 am, Delhi's air quality index read 483.

CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said that force's chief Rajesh Ranjan has directed all commanders of units deployed in Delhi and national capital region to ensure that masks are provided and are used by personnel who remain in open for hours as part of ir duties.
" personnel will wear se masks till air quality improves. force will also render medical assistance to its personnel deployed at Delhi-NCR having breathing troubles," spokesperson said.

CISF has over 25,000 personnel deputed in this region with maximum, about 13,000, deployed to secure Delhi Metro Rail Network (DMRC).
AQI severe across NCR
A thick blanket of smog engulfed several parts of Delhi on Sunday morning pushing its air pollution levels into hazardous territory. Visibility dropped significantly in national capital as pollutants hovered in atmosphere. tably, for first time in this season, Air Quality Index (AQI) docked as high as 625 at 10 am despite light drizzles in early hours.
