Ajit Pawar says, 'Sharad Pawar has no role in the MSCB scam'
Ajit Pawar, Chief of the NCP, recently spoke to the media in a press conference announcing that his uncle, Sharad Pawar, had no connection with the MSCB scam.

Ajit Pawar, nephew of Sharad Pawar and the Chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), recently spoke to the media in a press conference. Ajit Pawar in a statement asserted that Sharad Pawar had no role in the money laundering case in connection with the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam. In an emotional statement, Ajit Pawar spoke of his uncle and stated that Sharad Pawar has been dragged into the matter just because he is the director of the bank. In a major development ahead of the Assembly elections, Ajit Pawar resigned as the Baramati MLA from the Maharashtra assembly.

Ajit Pawar in an address to the media spoke of the disappointment he faced when he was charged with the allegations of money laundering. He stated that Sharad Pawar has been yanked into the situation and it happened because of him. He further added that this disappoints him to great lengths as people are defaming Sharad Pawar. Ajit Pawar's resignation from the Baramati MLA in the Maharashtra assembly came days after he and Sharad Pawar along with others were named by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in a money laundering case in connection with the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam.

Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam
The Bombay High Court had earlier directed the Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to file an FIR against NCP leader Ajit Pawar along with 70 others in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) scam case. The court held prima facie stating that there was 'credible evidence' against them in the case. Ajit Pawar has been alleged to be involved in causing losses worth Rs 1,000 crore to MSCB between 2007 and 2011. At that time, Sharad Pawar was the director of the back.
