Kolkata Rains: Travel Advisory Issued by IndiGo

As mentioned earlier, a travel advisory has been issued by IndiGo, for passengers travelling to and from Kolkata as the city witnesses heavy rain and thunderstorms in the past few days.

The advisory reads, “6E Travel Advisory: The weather in Kolkata is playing rough today. Do keep a close tab on your flight timings https://bit.ly/3DNYJqj before heading to the airport.”

Kolkata Weather Update As Per IMD

Speaking about the weather in Kolkata, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for parts of West Bengal, predicting heavy rains in the state, including Kolkata.

The IMD stated in a tweet: “Deep Depression over Gangetic West Bengal moved slowly northeastward at a speed of 5 km/h during the past 6 hours, near latitude 22.6°N and longitude 88.5°E, close to Kolkata (West Bengal). It is expected to move slowly westward across Gangetic West Bengal, retaining its intensity of deep depression until September 15th morning.”

Kolkata has been in the news for a rather unfortunate reason; a trainee doctor at the city's government-run hospital, RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was brutally raped and murdered in the seminar room of the very hospital when she was on her 36-hour shift. The incident sparked nationwide protests that are still continued, especially in Kolkata where the agitating doctors are braving the rain and adverse weather conditions to get justice for Abhaya.
