With Lt Gen Manoj Naravane named as new Army chief, all service heads have IAF in common

The army, navy and air force chiefs all have a common IAF connection as all their fathers served in it.

fars of General Narwane and current Naval Chief miral Karambir Singh were close friends and served in Air Force toger. Due to this friendship, Army Chief designate Lt Gen MM Naravane and Navy Chief miral KB Singh have also kwn one ar for a long time before y joined ir respective forces. Both of m were introduced when y h t even joined army.

Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhauria's far retired as a flying officer. General Narwane's far joined NDA as an army cet but h to drop out of course due to an injury. After gruating from Maharashtra, he joined Air Force as an officer cet. 

three army chiefs have ar thing in common. All three are from 56th course of NDA. Despite leaving from same course, all three have chosen to join different services on different dates.  

While Naravane will be taking over as Chief of Army Staff on December 31, after present chief General Bipin Rawat's exit from office, miral Karambir Singh took command of Navy on 31 May. Air Chief Marshal Bhoria took over as Chief of Air Force on 30 September.

appointment of General Narwane was anunced on Vijay Diwas on December 16. He will be 28th Army Chief and will command army for 28 months in office until his retirement. 

Naravane is presently serving as Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS). General Bipin Rawat, present Chief of Army Staff, is predicted to take over as country's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). His appointment was cleared by government on basis of seniority. He has earlier held a number of staff and command appointments and has been awarded Vishisht Seva Medal for his services as Inspector General Assam Rifles (rth) and 'Ati Vishisht Seva Medal'.
