On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ayodhya to lay foundation for construction of Ram Mandir following Supreme Court verdict in vember 2019. In run-up to stone laying ceremony on Wednesday, re has been a concerted effort by certain members of Opposition to get event delayed. Here is how Opposition tried to create obstacles in stone laying ceremony:
Digvijaya Singh called timing inauspicious:
Two days before foundation laying ceremony, Senior Congress leer Digvijaya Singh while citing news of Home Minister Amit Shah testing positive for COVID-19 and BJP minister Kamala Rani passing away due to COVID-19, called for postponement of ceremony in his tweets.

Opposition to PM attending event:
Asuddin Owaisi on 28 July opposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ram Mandir and said, “If he wishes to go, he must go in an individual capacity and t live telecast event.''

Petitions against live telecast of event:
Communist Party of India (CPI) MP Biy Viswam wrote to Information and Brocasting Minister Prakash Javekar opposing telecast of foundation stone-laying ceremony for Ram temple in Ayodhya on Doordarshan on 28 July saying it would be “contrary to accepted rms of national integrity.''

Questioned Ram Mandir Trust formation:
In February this year, senior Congress leer Digvijaya Singh stoked controversy over formation of Ram Mandir trust by saying, “ government has chosen to fill trust with many people who are close to ruling establishment and Sangh Parivar outfits. Why should trust also have government minees?”
Filed petitions seeking a stay on Bhumi Pujan:
On 24 July, Allahab High Court dismissed a plea by Saket Gokhale seeking a stay on Bhoomi Pujan for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. His plea stated that an estimated 300 people will be attending event, it would violate Unlock 2.0 guidelines set by Centre.
