Amarnath Yatra curtailed: Air India waives rescheduling & cancellation fees for flights to-&-from Srinagar
The national carrier Air India in a statement on Friday has said that it has decided to waive off the cancellation and rescheduling charges for their flights to and from Srinagar till August 15.

The national carrier Air India in a statement on Friday has said that it has decided to waive off the cancellation and rescheduling charges for their flights to and from Srinagar till August 15.
"In view of the prevailing circumstances, the national carrier has decided to give a full fee waiver on rescheduling/cancellation for all Air India flights to/from Srinagar till 15th August," the statement said.

The statement was also posted on the carrier's Twitter account.

Private carriers also waive fees for Srinagar flights
Vistara, SpiceJet and IndiGo on Friday issued statements saying they will waive off cancellation fees for to and fro flights from Srinagar. The carriers in their statements said that it would be waiving off change and cancellation fees for Srinagar flights till August 9th.

Travel advisory by J&K government to Yatris
The Jammu and Kashmir government had earlier on Friday issued an unprecedented security advisory asking Amarnath Yatris to cut short their stay and return as soon as possible from the valley. The advisory was issued considering the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir valley.
"Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats, with specific targetting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is adviced that they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible."

Indian Army briefs about security situation in the valley
In a press briefing, Indian Army had categorically stated that Pakistan and terror grups backed by it had planned to disrupt peace in Kashmir. Later in the evening, Republic TV accessed an intelligence note which exposed the locations where the terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had plotted to carry out the attacks. The plans included targetting Yatris as well as security forces through use of suicide attacks and IED explosions.
