Amid lockdown, Andhra CM Reddy chairs meeting to review availability of essential items

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness of the state to ensure the availability of essential items.

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi anunced a 21-day nationwide lockdown, Andhra Presh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed implementation of lockdown and availability of essential commodities in state.

Chief Minister Reddy also instructed officials to call off 'Rythu Bazars' in both urban and rural areas to avoid rush and also stated that shops should be permitted to remain open only from 6 am to 1 pm. 'Rythu Bazars' will be spre to all areas for people's convenience.

During his review meet, CM Jagan Mohan also marked that lockdown is being followed by people of state to a large extent but people are still stepping out to purchase essentials. 

"Precautions for maintaining social distancing have to be taken at every decentralised outlet and officials have to make sure at all outlets. People are requested to follow lockdown and remain indoors for safety. Only one person from a family has to come out for getting essential items t exceeding rius of 3-km," Andhra CM stated.

He also appealed citizens to stay indoors and cooperate with state during lockdown to contain spre of Coronavirus. CM furr said that Section 144 of CrPC is being implemented across state and strict action will be taken against those found in violation.

Andhra government anunces lockdown

Earlier on Monday, Andhra Presh government extended its precautionary measures to control spre of vel Coronavirus by anuncing a state-wide lockdown. This move was anunced by Jagan Mohan Reddy-led state government to prevent onset of community transmission of pandemic after number of positive cases in state rose to six. Following Andhra CM's directives, State Health Department issued a tification clarifying details and restrictions of lockdown. 

"In exercise of powers contained under Sec 234 of Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, Goverr of Andhra Presh hereby issues following measures for containment of COVID-19," a tification issued by state Health Department re.
