Amid Maharashtra drama, Nirupam makes U-turn and defends Congress

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, in a tweet, speaking about the current political instability in Maharashtra, said that blaming Congress for it is meaningless.

Estranged Congress leer Sanjay Nirupam, in a tweet, speaking about current political instability in Maharashtra, on Tuesday, said that blaming Congress for it is meaningless. He furr ded that current scenario is "failure" of BJP and Shiv Sena and it has brought state on doorstep of President's rule.

His comment came after allegations against Congress that were put up by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), on Tuesday. NCP blamed Congress for causing a delay in decision making regarding lending alliance's support to Shiv Sena for government formation in state. 

"We (Congress and NCP) fought elections toger. That's why we should make decision toger. We (NCP) waited for ir (Congress) letter yesterday. But we did t receive letter by evening. It was t right for us to give letter. Whatever be decision, re should be stability," NCP leer Ajit Pawar said.

Amidst political chaos in state, Maharashtra Goverr Bhagat Singh Koshyari, on Monday, asked NCP chief Shar Pawar to indicate willingness and ability of his party, which finished third in assembly polls, to form government in Maharashtra.

ditionally, Koshyari, in a report to MHA, recommended President’s rule over state. This came after NCP sought more time to form a government.

BJP, which emerged as single-largest party in Maharashtra assembly polls with 105 seats, later declined to form government owing to differences with Shiv Sena, which bagged 56 seats.
