Amit Shah in RS after tabling CAB: 20% decline in religious minorities in Pak, Ban
After tabling CAB, Amit Shah told the Rajya Sabha that there has been a 20% decline in the population of religious minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

After tabling Citizenship (Amendment) Bill Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday told Rajya Sabha that re has been a 20% decline in population of religious mirities in each Pakistan and Banglesh. "This bill would give hope to people who were living a miserable life. re has been an almost 20% decline each in population of religious mirities in both Pakistan and present-day Banglesh. Eir y were killed, changed ir religion or y fled to India for shelter to save mselves and ir religion," Shah said in Upper House.
"y did t get citizenship, rights to buy houses, and education, jobs. This Bill would give rights to those persecuted mirities," he said. Amit Shah said that BJP h mentioned it as one of ir election promises. "During elections, we me anuncement (about Bill). People gave mandate for this," he said.

' Muslim in India needs to worry'
Amit Shah said that misinformation that Bill is anti-Muslim is being peddled around. "Misinformation has been spre that this Bill is against Muslims of India. I want to ask people saying this, how is this bill related to Indian Muslims? y are Indian citizens and will always remain so, discrimination against m," he said. " Muslim in India needs to worry due to this Bill. Don't get scared if someone tries to scare you. This is Narendra Modi's government working according to Constitution. Mirities will get full protection," minister said.

PM Modi claims CAB will be written in 'golden letters'
PM Modi on Wednesday accused Opposition of taking line of Pakistan on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. He furr asserted that legislation will be written in "golden letters" in history. After conclusion of a 12-hour-long debate, which saw participation of 38 MPs from across political spectrum, Lok Sabha on Monday midnight passed Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 with 311 votes in favour of Bill and 80 against it.

Bill seeks to give citizenship to n-Muslims from Pakistan, Banglesh, and Afghanistan escaping religious persecution re, saying it was violative of various provisions of Constitution, including a move to grant citizenship on basis of religion. NDA will require support of at least 123 MPs in 245-member Rajya Sabha for Bill to be passed.
