Amit Shah scorches 'malicious, baseless' anti-Rafale campaign after SC's verdicts
Hailing the SC's dismissal of Rafale review pleas, Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the Congress and Rahul Gandhi for putting politics above national interest.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday stated that Supreme Court’s dismissal of review pleas on Rafale was a “befitting reply” to political parties and leers who ran “malicious” campaigns. Maintaining that re was instance of corruption in Modi government, he claimed that disruption of Parliament to raise Rafale issue was a “sham”. Moreover, Shah referred to SC having warned former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and asked him as well as Congress party to apologise to country.

SC rejects review petitions
On December 14, 2018, apex court h dismissed petitions demanding a court-monitored probe into intergovernmental deal between India and France to purchase Rafale jets from Dassault Aviation. review pleas filed by petitioners such as Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie, and Prashant Bhushan asked for an investigation in Rafale jet deal with Dassault Aviation. SC bench led by Chief Justice Gogoi reserved its verdict in May earlier this year. While prouncing judgment, Justice Kaul said that court found " merit" in review petition.

'Gandhi needs to be more careful in future'
Meanwhile, same bench of SC discharged Rahul Gandhi from contempt proceedings. However, court ted that judiciary should t be dragged into political discourse. Highlighting that Gandhi is a person holding an important position in politics, bench asked him to be more careful in future.

judgment re, "We do believe that persons holding such important positions in political spectrum must be more careful. As to what should be his campaign line is for a political person to consider. However, this Court or for that matter court should be dragged into this political discourse valid or invalid, while attributing aspects to Court which h never been held by Court. Certainly Mr. Gandhi needs to be more careful in future."
