An official release stated that on December 23, Assam Rifles and Manipur police conducted a joint search operation that resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition in the Kouburu Ridge area of Noney district.
On December 23, the Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police jointly conducted a search operation after receiving information regarding the presence of weapons and ammunition in the Kouburu Ridge area of the Noney district.
According to the press release, a thorough coordinated search of the surrounding area produced one AK-56 rifle, one single-barrel gun, ammo, six grenades, and warlike supplies.
The Manipur administration was asked by the Supreme Court earlier this month to provide the court-appointed committee with specifics of the actions it had taken to rebuild the sites of worship that had been damaged during the ethnic violence.
The violence involving the Kuki and Meitei communities erupted after a rally by the All Tribal Students Union of Manipur (ATSUM) on May 3.
With the violence and rioting persisting and many lives lost, the Centre had to deploy paramilitary forces to restore peace. (With inputs from ANI)
