Families of people who were killed in a train accident during a Dussehra celebration in Amritsar last year std a protest outside Congress leer Navjot Singh Sidhu's residence in city demanding government jobs. About 60 people were mowed down by a train that hurtled through a crowd that h spilled onto railways' tracks while watching a Ravana effigy burn on Dussehra. Sidhu's wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, was chief guest at event which was held on October 19, 2018. protesters alleged that Sidhus h failed to hour ir promise of ensuring a government job for a family member of each victim.

Besides, y claimed, Navjot Singh Sidhu h promised free education for next of kin of all victims. protesters, residents of Navjot Singh Sidhu's Amritsar East constituency, demanded to kw outcome of a magisterial inquiry into train trdy. y also demanded that responsibility be fixed for accident and guilty be punished.

CM ordered inquiry
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh h ordered an inquiry into incident. A 300-p report was submitted to Punjab Home Secretary in vember last year. As many as 30 families raised slogans against Sidhus during three-and-a-half-hour-long protest. y ended demonstration after police officials informed m that Congress leer and his wife were out of city. Seventy-two people were injured in accident.
