An animal welfare organization in Andhra Pradesh has filed a case against panchayat officials of Kanteru Village alleging that they have poisoned 300 stray dogs

An animal welfare n-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Andhra Presh has filed a case against panchayat officials of Kanteru Vill in Guntur district alleging that y have poisoned 300 stray dogs in last 20 days. According to reports, complaint was filed in  Tikonda Mandal police station.  police have registered an FIR and filed a case under cruelty to animals act, stated reports. 

About complaint

According to  Tikonda Sub Inspector, Rajasekhar, NGO 'Help For Animals Society' filed a complaint on Wednesday evening. Furr, y named  Kanteru Vill Secretary Ramesh and a private person Koteswar Rao for alleged poisoning of dogs in district over last 20 days. He furr mentioned that police is visiting vill on Thursday. Along with it, y will send de bodies of stray dogs for post mortem to find if y were poisoned.

Dog killings in Andhra Presh

Earlier in September, over 30 dogs were allegedly poisoned to death by  panchayat officials of Ramavarappu in Andhra Presh's Vijayawa district, stated reports. Furr reports stated that a resident of Model Vill Colony h caught officials red-handed while killing dogs and stuffing carcasses into a garb vehicle. resident h immediately reported it to animal welfare activists. According to reports, NGO 'Help for Animals Society' activists h immediately rushed to spot. According to NGO, local bodies have been violating rms and killing animals in area. According to news reports, it was revealed that local bodies were killing dogs by injecting potassium cyanide (a hazardous chemical). According to reports, earlier in July, around 50 stray dogs were allegedly poisoned to death by panchayat officials at Haffpet vill in Andhra Presh. It was revealed that carcasses were dumped in a pit on vill outskirts.
