Anti-Terror Operation in J&K's Kathua Enters Day 2, 3-4 Jaish Terrorists Likely Trapped

Jammu: The anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua has entered its second day since it began on Saturday in which Security forces are actively pursuing 3-4 Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists who are believed to be trapped.

One Head Constable of J&K Police was martyred yesterday, while a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) have been injured in the exchange of fire between the forces and terrorists.

The terrorists were reportedly planning an attack around the time of the polls in Kathua, as per the sources. 

Senior officials from the Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police are present at the scene. The Jammu Kashmir Police, Indian Army, and Special Forces have been deployed for the operation.

The encounter began in Kathua's Billawar area after security forces made contact with Jaish terrorists in the Dhana Parole area of Billawar.

Notably, This major anti-terror operation is taking place just ahead of the elections and the residents of Kathua will vote in the third phase of the assembly elections in the Union Territory, on October 1.

According to the information, security forces based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by the security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir police at Village Kog (Mandli) in Kathua. The entire area has been cordoned off in the wake of massive gunbattle in the area. 

If sources are to be believed, amid the ongoing operation two terrorists were hit in a rocket launcher assault by special forces of the Indian Army in Kathua.
