AP CM Reddy announces 50% quota for women in market chairpersons posts

Andhra Presh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, during a meeting attended by state ministers Kurasala Kanna Babu, Mopidevi Venkatramana and or concerned officials, anunced 50 per cent reservation for women in market chairperson posts. Based on an existing order that was issued by government, 50 per cent reservation has alrey been allotted to SC, ST, and OBCs. He also said that a committee would be set up to look into losses in district co-operative banks.

Reddy, during a discussion with officials at a review meeting on agricultural marketing and cooperative departments, said, "y should be able to decide prices during cultivation of crops.” During discussion, prices of lentils, tomato, cotton crops in future were also discussed.

Officials to stay away from middlemen system

Reddy, talking about situation of farmers, also said, "Farmers should strongly believe that we have given hope... Farmers should t forcefully sell crops to middlemen.” Furrmore, he has directed officials to maintain a distance with middlemen system, while also ordering establishment of a board for millets by end of October. Government is also planning to anunce a price for crops that have minimum support price and it is being said that Government will start purchasing dryland crops on October 15. Speculations have arisen because farmers have been asked by officials to start for online enrolment from October 10.

AP government on hefty onion prices

While asking officials to keep green cover for nine months, Chief Minister said, "Rayalaseema should be transformed as millets hub.” On ar positive te, while rest of country is struggling with hefty onion prices, CM said that  Andhra Presh government has been supporting public by selling onions for Rs 25 per kg. Furrmore, Chief Minister has also enquired about stock of onions in state. As far as import is concerned, 660 metric tons of onions have been brought in from or states, so far.

During discussion, Chief Minister also asked officials to do a thorough assessment and to conduct a comprehensive observation on stor of agro-products, fishes, prawns, and or ocean products in godowns and cold stor. He also asked for  digitalisation of  primary agriculture co-operative committees. Reddy furr set targets and instructed officials to complete all works in specified deline.
