AP Ministers to shelve NPR till 2010 questionnaire is adopted
The Andhra Pradesh Council of Ministers on Wednesday decided to keep the process of the National Population Register (NPR) in abeyance in the state till the Centre reverts to the 2010 questionnaire.

cabinet, which met here under chairmanship of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, opted a resolution requesting Centre to change NPR questionnaire and also remove apprehensions among people on issue.

Briefing reporters after meeting, state Information and Public Relations Minister Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) said Cabinet felt it was t just to forcibly impose NPR when crores of people were frightened over it.

onus is on Centre to remove apprehensions and create awareness among people on NPR. We are only asking Centre to fulfil its responsibility, Minister said.
Asked if state has power to overrule Centres decision, minister said, "we felt it is just. If we don't have power. We will see."

" Centre has taken a decision and is asking us to implement it. But when crores of people of state are scaredwe have right to safeguard people's interests. As we are implementing ncy, we have decided to keep process in abeyance till Centre concedes our request," Information Minister ded.
