Arms Supply Cartel Busted In Meerut, Two Arrested
Two persons who were running an interstate illegal arms supply cartel in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut have been arrested, police said on Sunday.
New Delhi: Two persons who were running an interstate illegal arms supply cartel in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut have been arrested, police said on Sunday.
The accused have been identified Ikram and Mashook Ali, residents of Uttar Pradesh's Meerut.
According to police, four country-made pistols, 41 barrels, and eight manufacturing tools for country-made pistols were seized from a residence in Meerut.
Two Persons Held For Running Arms Supply Cartel
After receiving intelligence about Ikram's plan to come to Delhi to supply illegal firearms to criminals, the Delhi Police launched an operation led by Inspector Gaurav Choudhary, resulting in Ikram's arrest, police said.
From Ikram, the police recovered two country-made pistols and six live cartridges, leading to a case being filed against him under the Arms Act. During interrogation, Ikram revealed that he obtained the weapons from Mashook Ali.
Using technical surveillance and information provided by Ikram, the police successfully arrested Mashook Ali in Meerut City. Following his interrogation, officers raided a secluded flat in Kashi Ram Colony, Meerut, where an illegal weapon manufacturing operation was discovered. Mashook admitted to producing over 80 country-made pistols, according to police.
Earlier, the special cell of the Delhi Police has apprehended two residents of Uttar Pradesh who were supplying weapons to gangsters in the Delhi-NCR region via social media, an officer reported on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Arvind Kumar (45) and Vinod Kumar (48) were arrested on August 19 after receiving a tip-off while they were at the Agra canal road in Jaitpur, preparing to deliver a shipment of illegal firearms to members of a notorious gang, an official statement said.
