Article 370 to go in J&K: Mehbooba Mufti calls it a failure to keep promise in Kashmir, warns of 'catastrophe'

Even as internet services were suspended in valley, Mufti mand to tweet and said that it is darkest day of democracy. She said that decision of Jammu and Kashmir leadership to reject two-nation ory in 1947 and align with India has backfired. She also went on to say that this decision will have catastrophic consequences for subcontinent. She accused that this move will terrorise people of Kashmir. PDP chief declared that Government of India has failed in keeping its promises to people of Kashmir. Mufti went on to ask if putting Jammu and Kashmir leaders on house arrest is what Kashmir acceded for.
In what is being dubbed as most important decision by Narendra Modi led Central government, Home Minister Amit Shah proposed revocation of Article 370 in upper house of Parliament amid massive ruckus by Opposition, however, he said that he will respond on all matters related to Kashmir. PDP chief Mufti in a series of tweet also claimed: "y want to change demography of only Muslim majority state in India , disempower Muslims to extent where y become second class citizens in ir own state."

- All party- meet called by Farooq Abdullah,Mehbooba Mufti : On Sunday, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, NC chief Farooq Abdullah called for a all party meeting and urged India and Pakistan to t escalate tension for sake of Kashmir.
- meeting was held at NC chief Farooq Abdullah's residence and was attended by NC leader Omar Abdullah, political rivals PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, J&K People's Conference president Sajad Lone and ors to discuss situation in state. Following meeting, Abdullah said, "It was unanimously resolved that all parties would be united in ir resolve to protect and defend identity, anymity and special status of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh against all attack and onslaught whatsoever." - Home Minister Amit Shah, NSA Ajit Doval high-level meet: Earlier on Sunday, Home Minister Amit Shah held high-level meet with Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and with or top security officials.
- As per reports, Home Minister is also likely to visit Jammu and Kashmir for a couple of days after conclusion of Parliament session on August 7. Amit Shah's visit may come before Independence Day on August 15, amid prevailing security tensions in Valley in aftermath of curtailment of Amarnath Yatra by state government.

- Plans of Attack on Amarnath Yatris by Pakistan: In a joint press brief by Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon and J&K DGP Dilbag Singh in Srinagar y revealed that y had intelligence inputs that re were attempts of attacks on Amarnath Yatra by Pakistan and that y had recovered IEDs and US made Sniper rifle in route of Amarnath Yatra.

- Centre deployed 38,000 troops in paramilitary troops in Kashmir valley. Sources said that it was placed in order to strengn counter-insurgency operations and law and order in state.
