Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley passed away on Saturday. He was 66. Arun Jaitley was mitted to AIIMS in New Delhi on August 9. On day veteran BJP leer was mitted to AIIMS, hospital h issued a statement saying that he was being given treatment in ICU under a multidisciplinary team of doctors and that at that point he was hemodynamically stable.  Arun Jaitley's unfortunate demise marks end of an extraordinary career that has witnessed him holding incredibly important positions at various levels, both in government and outside.

Cricketing fraternity pay ir last respects to Arun Jaitley

After former Finance Minister's untimely demise, condolences messs came in from all corners which included politicians, celebrities and general public. Even cricketing fraternity came forward to pay tribute to late BJP leer. 

Former Team India skipper Anil Kumble took to social media and wrote that he was deeply sdened by untimely demise of Shri. Arun Jaitley. Kumble also wrote that he fondly remembers ir conversations around cricket. spin legend n mentioned that Arun Jaitley's contributions in every field will remain unparalleled. ex-captain n expressed his heartfelt condolences to Jaitley's family and friends.

Arun Jaitley's Biography:

Born in Delhi on December 28, 1952, Arun Jaitley studied at St Xavier's school and went on to gruate with a degree in commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce in 1973, and went on to pursue an LLB at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. At that time, he is also said to have considered becoming a Chartered Accountant.

Active in politics since his time as a student, Jaitley was a member of ABVP, and served as President of Delhi University Students Union in 1974. Like a number of his contemporaries in BJP, Jaitley was put under preventive custody for fighting Emergency as part of JP movement, clampdown on him lasting 19 months. 

He rose to become president of Delhi ABVP and its All India Secretary, He became president of youth wing of Jan Sangh which he h joined later.

Parallel to his political commitments, Jaitley also practiced law, before Supreme Court and numerous High Courts. He was appointed ASG in VP Singh government in 1989 and has also appeared in several corporate matters. He stopped practicing law only in June 2009 on becoming leer of Opposition in Rajya Sabha. In Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, he h served as Minister for Law and Justice.

He is best kwn for having served as Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in first Narendra Modi government, has also held portfolios of Defence and Information and Brocasting. It was Jaitley who rolled out GST in 2017 which saw India becoming a unified market for goods and services for first time, and was also first chairman of GST council, being widely credited for forging consensus leing to Constitutional amendment that eventually passed GST Bill.


Jaitley opted out of second Narendra Modi government, having gone to US for two spells of treatment for a medical ailment in 2018-19. He has, however, regularly taken to Facebook and Twitter to pen blogs on various significant issues in country.
