'Arun Jaitley responding to treatment, condition stable,' AIIMS doctors tell Venkaiah Naidu, VP tweets update

Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday morning visited AIIMS in New Delhi where former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had been admitted on Friday, and was informed by the doctors that Jaitley is responding to treatment and that his condition is stable.

Senior BJP leader and former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Friday, and in the first statement released by AIIMS on his health condition at about 8:30 pm, the hospital's Media and Protocol Division's Chairperson stated that he is "hemodynamically stable" and presently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) "under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and others visited the hospital to inquire about the senior BJP leader's health on Friday. 

Jaitley, who held the portfolios of Finance and Corporate Affairs for the entirety of the first Narendra Modi-led NDA government, had earlier opted out of the second Modi government that was sworn-in in May, citing health grounds.

He had, however, said that he would assist the government in an informal capacity to the extent that he was able. He has continued to write on Facebook and Twitter on a number of issues significant to the country - continuing the trend of blogging that he had kicked off in 2018 where he cogently presents arguments on various topics, ranging from the economy to politics.
