Itanagar: Arunachal Presh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday exhorted police personnel to help state government in ending bandh culture by implementing existing laws.

dressing 52nd Raising Day of Arunachal Presh Police (APP) at Indira Gandhi Park here, CM said his government will never tolerate bandh culture in state which has verse effects on society and people.

“ state police should strictly implement all existing laws to curb menace. Bandh is t ultimate solution to place grievances. Organisations should opt or means to place ir grievances before government. Bandh has a negative effect on society and state incurs heavy loss due to a strike,” Khandu said.

Appreciating state police for its glorious journey despite various challenges, Khandu said his government h invested a lot in past nine years to strengn force.

Referring to drug abuse as a curse to state, chief minister called upon police to deal with problem strictly.

“In last nine years, 1,678 vehicles were provided to department, besides implementing comprehensive surrender policy. government has also installed CCTVs in all police stations and established a battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at Hollongi where as many as 1,100 volunteers were trained to help government during disaster,” chief minister said.

He ded that seven women police stations are alrey functional in state and more are in pipeline.

As many as 2,993 posts under various categories were created and recruitment process was completed to strengn state police, Khandu said.

chief minister appreciated state police for peaceful conduct of recently concluded assembly and Lok Sabha elections in state and for maintaining law and order.

Khandu ded that state cabinet recently approved changing menclature of Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to curb and check all sorts of corruption in state.

cabinet also gave its d for granting special gres to police constables and assistant sub-inspectors to ensure timely career progression, he said.

Speaking on occasion, Home Minister Mama Natung said that police are determined to curb drug menace in state and have alrey arrested several drug peddlers.

Director General of Police (DGP) Anand Mohan, in his dress, presented an overview of state police, including various initiatives undertaken to strengn force.
