Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi on Friday stated that water sprinklers will be installed in the national capital to control dust. "We will use the water sprinklers on the flying dust particles to control it," said Kejriwal. Along with this, he revealed that this year the government will try their best to ensure maximum mechanized sweeping with Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD). The government is aiming for a 100 percent mechanized sweeping in Delhi. According to Kejriwal, a seven point winter action plan is in the process of implementation to combat high levels of pollution. 

The 7-point action plan 

The seven point action plan is being implemented by the Delhi government to control the high levels of pollution in the national capital. Apart from water sprinklers and mechanized sweeping, the government is procuring masks on a massive level. "We will ensure that we make the masks available by October so that the citizens will have them by November 1 when the smoke starts coming," said the Delhi Chief Minister. The masks will be of N95 category which is one of the best masks, he added. Further, Kejriwal has urged people to abide by the Supreme Court's decision to ban firecrackers. Instead, a laser show will be arranged by the government for the citizens of Delhi. According to Kejriwal, everyone will have a free entry in the show.

According to CM Arvind Kejriwal, there are 12 places in Delhi which are 'highly polluted zones'. They are termed as 'hotspots'. "We will be implementing special plans for those zones," he said. In another plan, every ward in Delhi will have at least two environment marshals to control the polluting activities. Further, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) Chief stated that a plantation drive will be implemented. He has urged the people to plant as many trees as possible. A helpline number will be released to ensure that saplings are delivered to people's homes, he added.

Odd-Even rule back

The Odd-Even rule will be back in the National Capital between November 4 to November 15 to combat pollution. According to Delhi's Chief Minister, bringing back the rule will help in a 10 percent to 13 percent of the reduction in pollution in winters, especially when crop burning takes place. The scheme will be applicable only on weekdays. Further, women will be exempted from the rule.
