Arvind Kejriwal's anti-pollution appeal: No crackers, enjoy Laser Show

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced that the Delhi government will host a laser show on the festive occasion of ‘Choti Diwali to combat pollution in the city

As a step to go by his government's plan to curb air pollution during upcoming winter season, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday anunced that Delhi Government will host a laser show on festive occasion of ‘Naraka Chaturdashi’ also kwn as ‘Choti Diwali’. move has been anunced with an aim to reduce use of firecrackers during Diwali celebrations. Delhi Chief Minister appealed to citizens of Delhi to gar in large numbers and enjoy laser show inste of bursting crackers.

“Bursting crackers during Diwali les to air pollution as winter causes temperature inversion arresting smoke on ground level, leing to respiratory problems among Delhi citizens.  Supreme Court has also banned firecrackers. Hence, we urge Delhi citizens to avoid firecrackers and gar in large numbers on eve of Choti Diwali to enjoy massive laser show organised by Delhi Government. We hope that citizens will let go of firecrackers.”

Action Plan

Delhi, capital of India is also kwn for its alarming pollution levels with vember, December, and January being most affected months of year. In a bid to tackle problem of city’s pollution, Delhi Government has come up with seven-point action plan which includes distribution of masks, mechanised sweeping of ros, sapling plantation drive, water sprinkling for dust settlement, special plans for 12 pollution hot spots in city along with organising a laser show and banning firecrackers.

Odd-Even comes back

CM Arvind Kejriwal has also brought back  Odd-Even scheme that will be imposed between vember 4 to 15. Odd-Even scheme of Delhi government was first introduced in January 2016 and same was reimplemented in April 2016.

"If you enforce Odd-Even for a long time, implementation becomes troublesome. As of w, Odd-Even will only be restricted to this time frame," said Kejriwal. Emergency vehicles will t be subject to this, he ded. 

Chief Minister said that this year, restrictions will be enforced on private cars whereas women drivers will be exempted, and scheme will t be imposed on weekends.

Kejriwal on New Motor Vehicles Act 

On role of new Motor Vehicles Act, Kejriwal said that new act has improved conditions of Delhi traffic. Talking to reporters, CM furr said,

“re has been improvement in Delhi’s traffic ever since new Motor Vehicle Act has been implemented. If re is any clause due to which people are facing more problem and we have power reduce fine n we will certainly do it.”
