Delhi government, in a circular issued on May 16, has warned restaurants in national capital that serve alcohol to stop playing recorded music.

In response to alleged complaints about loud music from vicinity of se establishments, Delhi excise department's circular states that for restaurants operating under L-17 license, which permits liquor to be served, "only live singing/playing of instruments by professionals shall be allowed."

It claims that department has received complaints from local residents regarding nuisance created by restaurants holding L-17 license violating provisions.

It implores se establishments to comply with its rules and reiterates that L-17 licensee is permitted only to have live singing/playing of instruments by professionals within his licensed premises. Violation of se rules shall lead to strict action as per law.
