As India is set to host 13th BRICS Summit, MEA Jaishankar launches 2021 website

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday launched a website for five-nation grouping BRICS, a bloc that represents over 3.6 billion people, nearly half world’s population. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Jaishankar anunced, “Glad to have launched #BRICS2021 website. Will provide a comprehensive snapshot of our strong BRICS engment and exhaustive calendar of events during BRICS at 15 under Chairmanship of India.” leaders of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) met for first time in St. Petersburg, Russia, on margins of G8 Outreach Summit in July 2006. Later, group was formalized as BRIC during 1st BRIC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and met on sidelines of General Debate of UN Assembly in New York City, according to BRICS India website.
