Uttar Presh police will bring mortal remains of Atique Ahmed's son As who was killed in an encounter with Uttar Presh Special Task (UPSTF) cops, to Pragayraj from Jhansi Medical College. According to sources, body of deceased will be handed over to Atique's far-in-law in Prayagraj.

According to UP Police, an STF team led by two deputy superintendents of police reached Bagaon area in Jhansi district after getting information about As and his associate Ghulam. Both of accused, who carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh each, h tried to flee on a motorcycle. y also opened fire at STF team when latter surrounded m. To this, police retaliated and As and Ghulam were killed. 

"As, son of mafia-turned-politician Atique Ahmed and Ghulam S/o Maksudan, both wanted in Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carrying a reward of Rupees five lakhs each; killed in an encounter with UPSTF team led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal at Jhansi. Sophisticated foreign-me weapons recovered," UPSTF said in a statement. As per police, y recovered a British Bull Dog revolver and a Walr pistol from  Umesh Pal murder accused.

Umesh Pal's family thanks CM Yogi ityanath

Following news of Atique's son As's encounter in Jhansi, deceased Umesh Pal's family expressed ir gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi ityanath. "Whatever y have done is right,” Pal's wife reacted.

Speaking to reporters, Umesh Pal's mor Shanti Devi said, "I thank CM Yogi ji for serving justice and I appeal to him to give us justice ahe also. We have full faith in CM...We know whatever CM does will be good... se two (As and Ghulam) who were killed in encounter, y were involved in a crime and today y got ir punishment for that... This is a tribute to my son."

Akhilesh, Mayawati demand probe

Reacting to Atique's son As's encounter, both-- Samajwi Party and BSP chiefs demanded a probe into matter. SP supremo Akhilesh Yav termed encounter "fake" and accused BJP of diverting real issues.

"By doing false encounters, BJP government is trying to divert attention from real issues. BJP does not believe in court at all. Today's and recent encounters should also be thoroughly investigated and culprits should not be spared. power does not have right to decide what is right or wrong. BJP is against brorhood," he tweeted.

On or hand, BSP chief Mayawati said, "People feel that ir apprehension of a repeat of Vikas Dubey incident has come true. refore, a high-level inquiry is necessary so that complete facts and truth of incident can come before public."

CM Yogi ityanath lauds STF

On Thursday, CM Yogi ityanath chaired a high-level meeting on ‘law and order’ after encounter of Atique's son. He also lauded Special Task Force team which was involved in shootout.

"After encounter of former MP Atique Ahmed’s son As and his aide, CM Yogi ityanath took a meeting on law and order. CM Yogi praised UP STF as well as DGP, Special DG law and order and entire team,” UP CMO said in a statement.

Court grants 5-day police remand of Atique Ahmed

A Prayagraj court on Thursday sent Atique Ahmed and his bror Ashraf to 14-day judicial custody and also allowed five-day police remand in connection with Umesh Pal murder case. duo will be kept in Naini jail in Prayagraj till April 26, said vocate Vikram Singh, counsel for Umesh Pal's wife Jaya.

Republic also accessed remand copy, wherein in it alleged that Atique h links to Pakistan's ISI and was involved in smuggling of weapons. It was furr stated that former MP was in contact with terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and carried out cross-border arms smuggling via drones at Punjab border
