Ashok Gehlot: BJP & RSS taking name of Mahatma Gandhi is our victory
Ashok Gehlot said it was a victory for the Congress Party that the BJP and the RSS had to take the name of Mahatma Gandhi years after failing to recognise him.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday took a jibe at the BJPd the RSS, and said it was a victory for the Congress party that the BJP and the RSS had to take the name of Mahatma Gandhi years after failing to recognise him.
Gehlot attended a special convention of the state Congress committee on the eve of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and said the country and the world could not sustain without his principles and the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh should 'apologise for their mistake'.

Gehlot slams BJP and RSS
Ashok Gehlot slammed the BJP and RSS for taking the name of Gandhi and stated it to be their victory.

"The RSS, BJP and their leaders had to take the name of Gandhi. This is a victory of our policies, programs and beliefs," he said, adding that the outfits should clear their stance on the issue.
"I would like to tell those people that mere speaking about him will not work. You should clarify what you have in your heart and mind." Gehlot said.

He also asserted that if the BJP and the RSS had realised their mistake, then they should tell that they could not recognise Gandhi as they worked as 'informers for the British'. He further extolled the Congress and said that it maintained democracy in the country for 70 years and said that violence had been created in the country since 2014.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) stated that this year's Assembly is special because the entire world is commemorating Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary. "Mahatma Gandhi's message of truth and non-violence is still relevant for the peace, progress, and development of the world," he said. Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary commemoration event was held in New York at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday, ahead of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. The event was titled 'Leadership Matters - Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the Contemporary World'.
