Assam flood: 3 districts remain submerged

Dhemaji, Baksa and Morigaon districts of Assam continued to remain submerged on Wednesday, even as floodwaters receded from most parts of the state, according to an official bulletin.

Dhemaji, Baksa and Morigaon districts of Assam continued to remain submerged on Wednesday, even as floodwaters receded from most parts of state, according to an official bulletin.

At present, 14,205 people are suffering due to deluge in se three districts while 7,009 hectares cropland is affected, according to daily flood bulletin of Assam State Disaster Manment Authority (ASDMA).

Dhemaji is worst-hit district with 12,908 people affected, followed by Baksa where 1,000 people are suffering, and Morigaon with 297 people hit by calamity. On Tuesday, 13,800 persons were reported to be affected across three districts.

mighty Brahmaputra is flowing above danger mark at Neamatighat in Jorhat district, while its tributary Jia Bharali is flowing above red mark at NT Ro Crossing in Sonitpur.

Embankments, ros, bridges, culverts and or infrastructure were damd in Bongaigaon and Baksa districts, bulletin said. One of ten forest camps is submerged in rhi habitat Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon district, it ded.
