Assam Floods: Amitabh Bachchan makes big contribution Chief Minister's relief fund, Sarbananda Sonowal hails the gesture

Expressing his concern over Assam flood, actor Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and urged his followers to contribute to the Chief Minister's relief fund.

Expressing his concern over Assam flood, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and urged his followers to contribute to Chief Minister's relief fund.

Talking about grave situation that has gripped Assam for more than a week w, Bachchan said that he has me his contribution to relief fund and also requested people to do ir same and aid rth-Eastern state. Here's actor's tweet:

Following his humane gesture, Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sowal extended his appreciation to actor who generously contributed over Rupees 51 Lakh to his relief fund:

However, Bachchan is t only one who has contributed in an effort to help state combat floods. Earlier, on July 17, Akshay Kumar donated over Rs 1 crore to CM relief fund and an ditional one crore to Kaziranga National Park rescue. Kaziranga National Park is among worst-hit places in Assam, with almost 90% of its area submerged at peak of floods. Herds of animals have been displaced, even as national park volunteers struggle to save stranded animals. Over 4000 vills and 46 lakh people h been affected due to floods as of Monday afteron, while almost a lakh hectares of agricultural land was inundated, as per ncies.
