This comment was me by senior vocate Rajeev Dhavan, appearing for Muslim parties, before a 5-judge Constitution bench heed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. "Your Lordship didn't ask question to or side. All questions have been asked to us only. Of course, we are answering m." Dhavan told bench on 38th day of crucial hearing in case.

Dhavan's remark came when bench, which also comprises justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S A Nazeer, said that idea behind erecting iron railing at disputed site was to separate inner courtyard from outer courtyard. By putting up an iron railing, idea was to separate Hindus and Muslims and it was to appreciate fact that Hindus were offering prayers in outer-courtyard where 'Ram Chabutra', 'Sita Rasoi', 'Bhandar Grih' were situated, court said.

Fourteen appeals have been filed in apex court against 2010 Allahab High Court judgment, delivered in four civil suits, that 2.77-acre land in Ayodhya be partitioned equally among three parties -- Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.
