Baba Siddique Shooters Claim They Belong to Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, Did Recce Before Murder: Sources

New Delhi: The shooters of Baba Siddique, a senior leader of Ajit Pawar -led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction, have claimed that they belong to Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to sources in Mumbai Police.
Baba Siddique died on Saturday after he was shot multiple times in Mumbai's Bandra by unidentified assailants. A former MLA, Siddique Baba Siddique was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to police sources, three assailants fired shots at Baba Siddiqui, leaving him critically injured. The firing took place outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui's office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar. The incident has triggered panic, raising concerns over the safety and security conditions in the state.
Baba Siddique Murder: Police Arrest 2 Assailants
Meanwhile, Mumbai police have taken into custody two of three suspects involved in the firing. The arrested accused have been identified as Karnail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, both residents of Haryana and UP, respectively.
The probe into Siddique killing has been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch. It is learnt that during investigation the two arrested shooters claimed that they belong to Bishnoi Gang.
As probe continues, it has come to light that the assailants were were doing recce of that area for the last 25-30 days.
Bishnoi gang Members Did Recce Before Killing Baba Siddique
According to sources, all three accused came to the shooting spot in Bandra East (where the shots were fired) on autorickshaw. Sources further said that before shooting former Maharashtra minister Siddiqui, all three waited at the spot for some time.
Further police suspect involvement of more people into the killing as they believe that there was someone else also who was providing information to the accused.
The shocking assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddique has raised serious concerns about the law and order situation in Maharashtra , where assembly elections are set to take place next month.
A prominent Muslim leader from Mumbai, Siddique had represented the Bandra (West) seat in the assembly three times and was known for his close ties with various Bollywood stars.
‘Extremely Unfortunate’: Ajit Pawar on Baba Siddique Murder
Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar expressed his shock in a condolence message on X, calling the attack "extremely unfortunate and condemnable." He lamented the loss of a friend and a leader who championed the rights of the minority community and secularism, vowing a thorough investigation into the incident.
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde 's First Statement
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said earlier that Mumbai police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar had told him that two alleged shooters have been taken into custody.
One of them is from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana, while a third accused fled from the spot, the CM told TV channels.
