Babri case: SC asks UP govt to pass order on extension of judge's term

SC on Friday asked the UP govt to pass orders within two weeks on extension of tenure of the special judge conducting trial in 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case

Supreme Court on Friday asked Uttar Presh government to pass orders within two weeks on extension of tenure of special judge conducting trial in 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case, involving BJP veterans L K vani, M M Joshi and Uma Bharti, in Luckw. A bench of justices R F Nariman and Surya Kant said a fresh letter has been written by special judge on July 27 in which he h me five requests including providing him security.  bench asked senior vocate Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for state, to consider all five requests within two weeks time saying se requests appears to be reasonable.

apex court h on July 19 extended special judge's tenure till completion of trial and delivery of verdict in case. However, state government was yet to pass order. He was also asked by top court to deliver verdict within nine months. Besides vani, Joshi and Bharti, or accused against whom conspiracy charge was invoked in case by Supreme Court on April 19, 2017, are former BJP MP Vinay Katiar and Shvi Ritambara. Three or high-profile accused Giriraj Kishore, and Vishwa Hindu Parish leer Ashok Singhal and Vishnu Hari Dalmia died during trial and proceedings against m have been abated.
