'Bahut Kuch Hai,' Says CBI on Evidence in Corruption Probe Against RG Kar Ex-Principal Sandip Ghosh
The CBI initiated a corruption investigation against former principal Sandeep Ghosh by filing an FIR on Saturday.
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-Corruption Branch announced on Sunday that they have uncovered substantial evidence in their corruption probe against former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandeep Ghosh.

"Bahut Kuch Hai (there is a lot)," a CBI official was quoted as saying to the news agency ANI on the question of whether the central agency has uncovered any concrete evidence in the corruption probe against former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandeep Ghosh.
The CBI initiated a corruption investigation against former principal Sandeep Ghosh by filing an FIR on Saturday.
The investigation has now also focused on Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College. CBI officials carried out extensive search operations at the residences and offices of former principal Sandip Ghosh, ex-MSVP Sanjay Vashisth, and 13 others across Kolkata.
Ghosh, along with four doctors and a civic volunteer, underwent polygraph tests on Sunday at the CBI office in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The main accused, Sanjoy Roy, had his polygraph test done inside Presidency Jail, where he is being held under tight security.
Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted all documents about the alleged financial irregularities in the case to the CBI, a week after the Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the probe agency.
Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case: What We Know So Far
- The body of a 31-year-old trainee doctor was found partially unclothed in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9.
- According to the police, the incident took place between 3 am and 5 am.
- The autopsy report revealed that the doctor was sexually assaulted before being strangled and smothered to death.
- According to the probe, after severely injuring and assaulting the doctor, the accused, Sanjoy Roy, killed her by throttling and smothering her.
- The CBI informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that the local police tried to cover up the rape and murder by altering the crime scene before the CBI
- took over the investigation.
- Sanjoy Roy, the main accused, is being held in Cell Number 21 of the jail under tight security. He is kept alone in the cell, and CCTV cameras have been installed outside to monitor him closely.
The incident that occurred on August 9, involved the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. It led to the arrest of a Kolkata Police civic volunteer and sparked widespread protests by doctors and citizens. The Calcutta High Court subsequently directed the CBI to investigate both the murder and the financial irregularities at the institution.
