minority groups which welcomed Indian Government’s move are Banglesh Minority Coalition (USA), Banglesh Minority Rights Alliance (Cana), Banglesh Minority Council (Switzerland), Banglesh Hindu Coalition (USA) and Banglesh Hindu Buddhists Christan Unity Council (France).

se groups told news agencies that, through law, India has partially fulfilled its duty towards hundreds of thousands of non-muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Banglesh who were dwelling in India but could not claim ir rights.

In a released joint statement, se groups said, “Through this Act, India has partially fulfilled its duty to millions of non-Muslims from Banglesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan who h to flee to India in recent years but could not claim ir rights in India. CAA has given m right.”

“We, expatriate Hindus and or religious and ethnic minorities of Banglesh living around globe fully support Citizenship Amendment Act (2019) passed by Parliament of India. This is a humanitarian act towards humanity” y ded.

On December 22, a large number of Indian-Americans participated in a rally in support of new citizenship act passed by Indian Parliament. News reports said objective of rally was to counter “misconception about CAA incited by Islamic groups in India”.

organizers told agencies that rally was aimed at “dispelling misinformation and myths” surrounding law as well as to counter propaganda of hate, lies and downright absurdities.

What is CAA?

CAA is a new citizenship act passed by both houses of Indian parliament according to which persecuted religious minority groups including Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, Christians, and Buddhists from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Banglesh can apply for Indian citizenship in case y came to Indian before December 31, 2014.
