Bangladesh violence: ISKCON devotees hold protest in Bengaluru against attacks on Hindus

Devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) held a protest on Saturday to condemn the attack on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh

devotees of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Bengaluru on Saturday held a silent march as a mark of protest against killing mirities in Banglesh. According to news ncy, ANI, peaceful march was started from Hare Krishna Hill area of Bengaluru in which thousands of followers participated and std ir displeasure against situation in  Dhaka.

tably, this comes after a mob of at least 500 people attacked ISKCON temple during Durga Puja celebrations. Furrmore, attacks were carried out on Puja venues in Hajiganj on October 13 and, two days later, attacks on Hindu temples in Naokhali took  lives of two more people.

Meanwhile, protest in Karnataka's Bengaluru was a part of a worldwide protest organised by ISKCON at about 700 ISKCON temples across 150 nations on Saturday. protesters also took placards reing 'Justice for Banglesh mirities' and 'Protect our temples in Banglesh'. However, y refrained from chanting any slogans against Banglesh violence.

"We express our pain and anguish on unprovoked attacks on ISKCON devotees, Hindus, and or mirities in Banglesh. We unitedly stand in support and solidarity with m and pray for ir safety and well-being," said Mhu Pandit Dasa, President, ISKCON Bangalore.

"We urge Government of Banglesh to immediately ensure protection of affected mirities and take steps to prevent such incidents in future. We also request Government of India to work with our neighbouring countries and protect rights of mirities in region," he said.

ISKCON devotees hold protest in Pune

In a similar protest, ISKCON devotees also std a silent rally in Pune on Saturday. Many or organisations like Vishwa Hindu Parish and RSS's Muslim Rashtriya Manch also joined protest. Earlier on October 23, Vishva Hindu Parish (VHP) penned a letter to international bodies including, UN and UNHRC, and demanded immediate action against those involved in atrocities against Hindu community in Banglesh. In letters, he of international affairs of VHP, Swami Vigyananand urged to set up an international enquiry commission and send a fact-finding mission to Banglesh at earliest. Also, organisation demanded international bodies to pressurise Banglesh government to ensure security, justice and compensation to victims.

US condemns Banglesh violence

Earlier on Tuesday, VHP demanded a fact-finding team of Indian parliamentarians be sent to Banglesh for a probe into recent incidents of violence against Hindu mirities. Amid rising protests in India and Banglesh, US Department of State spokesperson Ned Price, tweeted, “We condemn recent violent attacks on Hindu temples and businesses in Banglesh during Durga Puja celebrations. Our thoughts are with Hindu community as we urge authorities to investigate fully. Freedom of religion or belief is a human right.”
