Bar Council of Delhi expresses displeasure over inaction of police

The Bar Council of Delhi expressed displeasure over the inaction of the Delhi police in arresting its personnel who allegedly opened fire at a lawyer.

Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) on Monday expressed displeasure over inaction of Delhi police in arresting its personnel who allegedly opened fire at a lawyer during clashes at Tis Hazari court on vember 2. In a statement, BCD chairman KC Mittal observed that police were provoking lawyers to continue ir protest. Revealing that meeting with police and Lieutenant Goverr Anil Baijal h failed, he reiterated BCD’s solidarity with vocates.

statement re, " concrete step has been taken to arrest police persons who fired at vocates. police are amant, rar provoking lawyers, to resort to protest. We unitedly stand with legal fraternity.” Mittal ded, “ meeting with LG and police failed due to resistance of police officials and failure to act as per law. y h intention to take action against ASIs involved in firing at Tis Hazari.”

Talks remain inconclusive

Earlier, on Sunday, a meeting was held between members of all district courts’ associations, Delhi police representatives and Baijal. talks remained inconclusive as Delhi police stated that it would initiate action against its personnel only after inquiry report. On or hand, Baijal urged both sides to continue talks and resolve ir differences in an amicable manner. However, protesting lawyers decided to abstain from work on Monday.

Lawyers-police conflict

tussle between lawyers and police in Delhi has been going on since  clashes outside Tis Hazari court on vember 2 when a dispute broke out over a parking spot. On October 3,  Delhi High Court ordered a judicial inquiry by a retired High Court judge into clashes between police and lawyers outside Tis Hazari court. reafter, hundreds of police officials std a protest at Police Hequarters in national capital owing to incidents of police personnel being assaulted by some lawyers.
