Puducherry L-G Kiran Bedi appreciates clean lake, seeks kids' help for its upkeep

Lieutenant Goverr of Puducherry Kiran Bedi, on her weekend visit to Kanagan lake, a major water body in neighbouring Reddiarpalayam, on Sunday appreciated clean environment and asked school children, members of voluntary organisations and staff of a research institute to ensure that cleanliness of lake is maintained

Stressing on maintenance of such infrastructure, former IPS officer, who used her cycle to visit lake from her office, motivated young children to take care of lake as ir property.

Responding to her appeal, school children and ors and French Institute of Puducherry came forward to take care of lake by taking upon mselves certain extent of area. Bedi who used certain Tamil words to ask children and ors to ensure 'suthamana eri' (clean lake) said, " lake is our property and children can use it during weekends or holidays as tourist destinations."

She also furnished phone numbers for any police help for security purpose. Bedi asked police officials who accompanied her to take care of visitors. Children presented cultural programmes to welcome Lieutenant Goverr.
