Bengal: CPI(M) Suspends Ex-MLA Tanmoy Bhattacharya Over Misconduct Allegation by Woman Journalist

Kolkata: CPI(M) on Sunday suspended former MLA Tanmoy Bhattacharya from party membership following an allegation by a woman journalist that he h misbehaved with her.
journalist claimed that he h me improper vances and touched her when she went to interview him at his residence.

allegation was denied by Bhattacharya, who claimed that she h come to interview her earlier also on several occasions.
CPI(M) state committee, in a press statement, said that party views any such allegation with seriousness.

Stating that allegation has affected party's im among people, CPI(M) said that Bhattacharya has been "suspended" from party's membership.
" complaint of woman journalist has been sent to party's internal complaint committee. Future steps will be taken on basis of its recommendations," statement said.

CPI(M) state secretary Mohd Salim said that journalist of a news portal was hurt by Bhattacharya's alleged behaviour and complained to party.
" allegation is very serious and party does t support any such act," he said, maintaining that he fails to understand why Bhattacharya gave interviews at his home.

Bhattacharya is a former CPI(M) MLA from Dum Dum Uttar constituency and was party's candidate from Baranagar assembly segment in 2024 by-election, which he lost.
