Bengaluru Airport Murder: Accused Did Recce Before Stabbing Trolley Operator to Death

The verbal spat took a gory turn after Ramesh took out a knife and stabbed Ramakrishna. Following which, Ramakrishna died of severe bleeding.

Bengaluru: Two days after a man was stabbed to death at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru, police have arrested the accused.  

For the unversed, a man, identified as Ramakrishna (45), working at the Bengaluru airport was stabbed to death by accused, identified as Ramesh, on suspicion of adultery. Ramakrishna was working as a trolley puller at the airport.

It is learnt that initially, an argument broke out between Ramesh and Ramakrishna after he arrived at the airport. The verbal spat took a gory turn after Ramesh took out a knife and stabbed Ramakrishna. Following which, Ramakrishna died of severe bleeding.

Subsequently, Northeast Bengaluru police division Airport Police visited the Kempegowda International Airport and arrested the accused. 

According to sources, the accused suspected that the victim was having an illicit affair with his wife. The victim was attacked with a machete near the parking area of Terminal 1 at around 7 pm. Sources revealed that Ramesh had been reportedly waiting for an opportunity to confront Ramakrishna in their village and he later discovered that he was working at the airport. In a fit of rage, Ramesh went to the airport and slashed Ramakrishna's neck with a machete, leading to his death. 

"A person, identified as Ramakrishna (45), working at Kempegowda International Airport was stabbed to death by one Ramesh on suspicion of having an illicit relationship. Ramakrishna was working as a trolley puller at the airport. Ramesh arrived at the airport in a BMTC bus and had a fight with Ramakrishna. Then he took out a knife and stabbed him. Ramakrishna died of severe bleeding. Northeast Bengaluru police division Airport Police visited the Kempegowda International Airport and arrested the accused," the Airport police said.  

The accused had bought a machete to kill Ramakrishna and hid it in a backpack. After doing a recce, the accused learned the time of Ramakrishna’s arrival at the airport. Before attacking him, Ramesh waited at the parking area of terminal1 and followed him to a nearby washroom. He then attacked the victim, slashed his throat with a machete and killed him.

It is learnt that the accused, Ramesh, was travelling by bus, his bag was not scanned, which allowed him to bring the weapon into the airport premises. More details are awaited.
