11-Year-Old Boy Dies After Rusted BBMP Playground Gate Falls on Him in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: An 11-year-old boy died after a gate fell on his head at the BBMP ground in Bengaluru's Malleswaram on Sunday evening around 4 PM. The victim, identified as Niranjan, was entering the Raja Shankara playground to play when the seven-foot rusted iron gate collapsed on him as he attempted to open it. His friend, who was with him at the time, escaped unhurt.

A team from the Malleswaram police station visited the site and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, said Saidulu Adavath, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North Division of Bengaluru City.

The incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards at public recreational facilities maintained by Bengaluru's civic body, BBMP. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
