Social media videos showed the mall surrounded by water, as management struggled to drain the area.
Incessant Rainfall Paralyzes Bengaluru; Orange Alert Issued
An orange alert has been issued across the city following the heavy downpours since Tuesday, severely disrupting daily life. Bengaluru’s civic infrastructure faced significant strain, with over six centimeters of rainfall overwhelming tech hubs like Manyata Tech Park, where employees were stranded. The situation has sparked criticism over the city's inadequate flood management system.
The Karnataka government responded by declaring a holiday for all schools, including Anganwadi centres and private and aided schools across Bengaluru. Additionally, a work-from-home advisory was issued to IT and private firms to mitigate travel challenges for employees.
The heavy rainfall has not only affected the city but also central and southern parts of Karnataka, with ongoing concerns about further disruptions. Despite frequent occurrences of waterlogging, Bengaluru's infrastructure continues to struggle under extreme weather conditions.
